The plot of the first season of the series revolves around the investigation of the strange and brutal murder of a woman in Louisiana. Two detectives are assigned to work on this case – Martin Hart and Rost Cole. They investigate a mysterious ritual murder, drive along endless roads and fields, say strange and not always understandable things, live cruel lives and behave in such a way that it is impossible to take your eyes off them.

In the next season, the action revolves around the murder of a city official, which jeopardizes a large business project related to the construction of a new road. The investigation is being assigned to a multi-agency team including local detective Raymond Velcoro, Antigone County Sheriff’s Department detective Bezzerides and highway patrol officer Paul Woodrow.

L.A. Confidential (1997)

In the post-war years, organized crime flourished, which began to rapidly gain strength even during Prohibition. Until the 1950s, Los Angeles, one of the largest cities in the United States and the home of the Dream Factory, was subordinate to a criminal organization headed by Mickey Cohen, a dangerous and cruel man. During his lifetime he became a hero of legends.

After the arrest of the mafia boss, one after another his assistants are sent to another world, striving to take the place that has become vacant. The famous Los Angeles police enter the battle against criminals.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009)

The psychological thriller tells the story of a journalist, he and his assistant are trying to solve a case that no one could solve before him. Prestige (2006)

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, things had not yet reached the wonders of Copperfield. “Moving a person” was considered the best trick of that time, and every magician dreamed of having it in his arsenal. Two of Britain’s most famous magicians, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, have been competing in this matter for many years.

They are ready to do anything to reveal each other’s secrets and secure the title of the largest illusionist in the world. However, none of them notices how this war pushes away all their loved ones and little by little destroys their lives. A film you can’t tear yourself away from.

Seven (1995)

The film is based on a police investigation into a series of bloody murders committed by a maniac. This case is entrusted to William Somerset, who is due to retire very soon. And he is given a young and inexperienced guy, Mills, as his partner.

The New York police veteran immediately understands that this is just the beginning and there will be new victims. In his opinion, the killer does not choose his victims by chance, because everything indicates that he plans everything well. And soon his words are confirmed: it turns out that the maniac kills those who fall under the “seven deadly sins” described in the Bible.

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)

Tom Ripley is obsessed with getting to the top at any cost. One day, after a chance acquaintance with one of the richest people in America, Tom receives a strange assignment: to go to Italy and convince the son of this millionaire not to waste money in Europe, but to return to the States. Ripley will receive a thousand dollars for the service.

Their luxurious life fascinates Tom, and he easily wins Dickie’s affections. And decides to take his place. In this, he will be helped by talents that previously seemed unnecessary: the masterful ability to imitate people’s voices and habits, as well as forge their signatures.

In this quiet provincial town, in fact, everything is not so simple and rosy. Neighbors Dovere and Birch celebrate Thanksgiving together. At the end of the celebration, they discover that both of their little daughters have disappeared. This event causes quite a stir in the city.

And very soon, tired of the unknown, parallel to the police investigation, the father, distraught with grief, begins his own, albeit difficult, investigation. And it is his actions that will reveal everything that the small town previously preferred to remain silent about.

Oldboy (2003)

An ordinary businessman, Dai Su, heads home for his daughter’s birthday, but on the way he gets drunk, acts up and ends up in the police station. His childhood friend Joo Hwan picks him up from the police. But unknown people intercept the businessman and put him in a private prison.

He spends 15 years in prison. All this time he only watched TV; there were not even windows in the cell. One day, Dai Su learns from the news that his wife was killed and his daughter was kidnapped. He himself becomes the main suspect.

Obsession (2004)

Matthew and Lisa are a happy couple in love, they have been together for three months. But distance gets in the way of this love. Matthew is offered a job in New York and tells Lisa that he wants her to come with him. She promises to think for a while and disappears.
