The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
This drama by Andrew Dominik earned Pitt the most important acting award of his career to date, the Venice Film Festival’s Volpi Cup for Best Actor.
The film is based on the true story of one of America’s most notorious assassins of the 19th century, Jesse James. Neither the bounty hunters nor the sheriffs could catch him, as Jesse carefully thought out his crimes. Surely, Pitt would not have gotten the role of Jesse James if seven years before the aforementioned film he had not starred in Guy Ritchie’s dashing British action movie “Snatch”.
