The seventh season of the series “Billions” started in August 2023. It tells about the fate of businessman Bobby Axelrod after the tragedy that happened in the fall of September 11th. Many employees, as it turns out, are buried under these ruins, and Axelrod decides to help the families of the tragically killed people.
His opponent, prosecutor Chuck Rhoades, opposes the businessman’s actions. These two will face off in a difficult battle that will last a long time. There is a real struggle between them, which develops into something more than just an investigation and becomes personal.
The upcoming season will continue the ongoing rivalry between Rhoads’ masochistic prosecutor Chuck and cynical tycoon Bobby Axelrod. Now the men, still not giving up the idea of destroying each other, will have to fight with new, even more skillful and sinister opponents.
The financial thriller Billions was created by New York Times journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin. He was inspired by the true story of New York State Attorney Preet Bharara’s crusade against Wall Street fraud. For his exploits, Bharara even landed on the cover of Time magazine with the headline “This Man Is Busting Wall Street.”
Sorkin was helped in the development of Billions by Brian Koppelman and David Levine, the authors of Ocean’s Thirteen, although this is not the journalist’s first experience in cinema – the film adaptation of his bestseller Too Big to Fail was successfully released on HBO. The third season of the show is scheduled to have twelve episodes.
The series premiered on January 1, 2016 on the cable channel Showtime. The pilot episode was directed by Neil Berger, director of such films as “Darklands” and “The Illusionist.”
The first episode set a new record for the channel – it was watched by almost 3 million people. The series currently has a rating of 8.4 out of 10 on IMDB, a figure based on the opinions of almost 2,000 people.
Billions received mostly positive reviews. On Metacritic, the series has a score of 68 out of 100, based on 30 “generally favorable” reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has a 74% fresh rating based on 34 reviews, with an average rating of 6.4/10. The site’s critical consensus says: “Despite the lack of sympathetic characters, the series combines the traits of melodrama and something more than a picture of life; this suggests that it will be revisited time after time.”
The producers of “Billions” have repeatedly said in interviews that they have an excellent understanding of the hatred of viewers for billionaires, and that the audience does not really intend to empathize with them. But this did not bother them at all.
The Motion Picture Association of America initially rated the film R (persons under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian). But after that it was re-edited, and the film’s rating was changed to PG (children are recommended to watch the film with their parents).
“Billions” is a series not only about money, it is also about sex. Here you will find BDSM, sex with dwarfs, an amazingly beautiful frank scene between two beauties, and more. The series is beautiful and lives up to its name to the maximum. “Billions” are felt in everything: in expensive suits and beautiful dresses, in cars and other attributes of a luxurious life.
