For the rating, experts analyzed data from 30 thousand universities around the world, including 306 Ukrainian ones. Methods and approaches for assessing educational institutions comply with the Berlin Principles on Ranking of Higher Education Institutions. The webometric ranking of world universities is the most authoritative in the field of education.
How to choose the best universities
The World University Ranking analyzes the degree to which universities are represented in the Internet space. It has been compiled since 2004 and published twice a year – in June-July and January.
The assessment is formed from three indicators:
Impact – the number of external sources from which links to university web pages come.
Openness – the number of citations to the top 210 profiles (authors) of each university.
Excellence – an article by institutional researchers over the past 5 years. Among the top 10% most cited in each of 27 scientific fields.
The world’s best universities
The constant leaders in the ranking are Harvard and Stanford universities, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California at Berkeley. They are followed by Oxford and Michigan universities. The University of Washington has remained in seventh position for a year now. Eighth and ninth places were taken by Cornell University and Columbia University in New York. Johns Hopkins University closes the ranking.

Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics (2056th place);
National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” (2533rd place);
Ivan Franko Lviv National University (2650th place);
National University “Lviv Polytechnic” (2819th place);
Ternopil National Medical University (2899th place);
In 2022, the best university according to the same rating was the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev.
