The Ukrainian Pavilion will operate in Cannes for the eighth time. Within its framework, the domestic film industry will be presented, as well as business meetings of domestic filmmakers will take place.
Despite the fact that there is no Ukrainian cinema in the competition programs of the festival, there is no need to talk about a lesser presentation of national cinema. In particular, on May 16 at 17:30 there will be a closed market (not premiere) screening of Anatoly Mateshko’s new frank film “Captive,” which is currently taking place in eastern Ukraine.
Another finished film is “Blue Dress” by the famous Ukrainian director Igor Minaev, which will be presented among the presentations in the pavilion. In addition, these presentations (May 18 and 20) will include films in production “Now I Will Love You” by Roman Shirman, “Good Game Well Played” by Elena Fetisova, “Maxim Osa” by Ivan Sautkin, “The Turtle Dove’s Nest” by Taras Tkachenko and others .
And in the Short Film Corner – a platform for young filmmakers presenting their short works – this year they are showing 15 films made in Ukraine or with the participation of Ukrainian specialists. These are the films:

During all the days the pavilion is open, there will be an action in support of director Oleg Sentsov, illegally detained in a Russian prison, who was opened by the Molodist festival in 2011. The Ukrainian pavilion will organize a collection of signatures calling on the Russian government to release Oleg Sentsov.
The Ukrainian pavilion was organized this year by the Kyiv International Film Festival “Youth” together with Igor Yankovsky’s All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation “Initiative for the Future” and with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema.
