10 best films about the war in Donbass

Several dozen films have already been made about the ATO, almost all of which are documentaries. Against this background, ten paintings stand out, which are a clear creative statement about the events in the Donbass.

“Volunteers of the Divine Couple” (2015)

The reality turns out to be much more cruel than the romantic ideas of the young Lithuanian, throwing him into the maelstrom of war. The trio will be forced to overcome their psychological boundaries and build strong relationships. They agree on nothing except their desire to be where they are, each for their own reasons. In the territory destroyed by the invaders, Rokas finds his true love.

But an anti-terrorist operation began, which forced not only Anton, but also thousands of other Ukrainian men to enter this territory.

“Myth” (2018)

The film tells the story of the life and death of Vasily Slepak, a world-famous opera singer with a unique voice. Vasily was born in Lviv, but thanks to his unique voice he won a competition and, finally,

moved to France, where he lived for 19 years. There he had everything that we used to call “happiness”: a name, a successful career on the world opera stages, true friends and love.

He took an active part in the Revolution of Dignity, leading demonstrations in France, and later joined the volunteer movement, helping Ukraine. It would seem that he did more than enough, as for a person of a creative profession. But Vasily decided to leave the stage and career in Europe and join the ranks of volunteers when war came to his home country. During a combat mission, Vasily “MYTH” Slepysh died from a sniper’s bullet.
