On May 3, the European Film Academy Young Audience Award finalist films will be shown in Ukraine for the first time and voting for the winner will take place. Together with the whole of Europe, Ukrainians will determine the best European film for young audiences.
On May 3, Young Viewer’s Day, children aged 12-14 will watch three award finalist films in 25 European cities. Kiev residents will join their number for the first time this year.
This year’s shortlist included three films for children – “My Skinny Sister” (Germany, Sweden), “The Invisible Boy” (Italy), “You’re Ugly Too” (Ireland). The Kiev screening of the Young Audience Award will take place in the cinema at the Film.ua film studio.
After the screening, young people will act as a jury and cast their votes for the best film. The results of the national votes will be transmitted to Erfurt (Germany) on the same day. Based on their results, the pan-European winner, the laureate of the Young Audience Award 2015, will be announced during a video conference in Erfurt.
The organizers of the Young Audience Award in Ukraine are the festival for children and teenagers “Children Kinofest” together with European cultural institutions. “Children Film Festival 2015” will be held in 12 cities across the country from May 29 to June 7. The mission of the festival is to popularize cinema among children of all ages and develop traditions of family cultural leisure.
