Very often I want to say about this or that animal that it is smart, like a person. In fact, these words are not without meaning, since many representatives of the fauna are really capable of demonstrating remarkable mental abilities. Ten such animals will be discussed below.
Chimpanzee
In nature, there are two types of chimpanzees, both of them are the closest ancestors of man. These animals create primitive tools that are ultimately used primarily for food. When monkeys hunt, they use their own strategies to do it as efficiently as possible. They are aware of their status, living within a single community, use certain symbols, understand human language, numbers and numerical sequences, and are also able to plan future events.

Elephants
They are characterized by self-awareness and cognition, these large strong animals know how to use tools, but not as virtuoso as chimpanzees. It is believed that they have a good memory, it is quite possible that elephants have a certain ritual associated with death, as they show a genuine interest in the bones of their relatives.

Dolphins
Some researchers estimate their intelligence approximately at the level of elephants. They are characterized by complex play behavior and communication skills. When looking for food, dolphins use improvised means, in particular, they tear off pieces of a sponge with their mouths and wrap the palate to prevent injuries while eating.

Parrots
Birds that can imitate human speech. Some species link words and understand their meaning, making simple sentences. Some of them also know how to use tools, and even solve simple puzzles.

Sheep
These animals recognize people’s faces and remember them for a long time. In addition, they distinguish the emotional state, guessing it by the face. If you work with them constantly, calling them by name, then they are able to remember them.

Rats
It is common for these animals to solve problems on their own. They also demonstrate altruistic behavior in relations with relatives, which was discovered during the experiments. The test rats were released from the cage in order to receive chocolate chips, after which the food was shared.

Dogs
At their core, they are social animals, and therefore they are well aware of their social and structural responsibilities. Dogs are able to interact with other members of the pack. They are smart and, as practice shows, easily trained.

Octopus
The most intelligent invertebrate capable of demonstrating good spatial learning abilities. It is characterized by the ability to navigate in space and demonstrate the techniques of predators.
There is an opinion that octopuses are able to practice observation. However, some scholars question it.

Crows
Individual birds of this breed are able to play sports – they use improvised tools for this purpose. In addition, they hide and store food at different times of the year, have episodic memory. So, for example, crows in Australia eat poisonous cane toads, for which they turn them on their backs and thus gain access to the insides, which, unlike other parts of the body, are not toxic. In addition, these birds are able to distinguish people.

Pigeons
Such a bird can be taught relatively complex actions to which they react in the desired sequence. Pigeons are able to remember many images for a long time.
