A unique five-part documentary about Prince William, The Earthshot Prize, is being broadcast on Discovery platforms around the world. The documentary series “The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet” is now available to watch for those interested in saving the Earth.
The Earthshot prize was established by Prince William and the Royal Foundation in October 2020 and is the most prestigious global environmental prize in history. Its goal is to discover, encourage and scale innovative solutions to the biggest environmental problems. The award consists of five parts — protection and restoration of nature, air purification, ocean revival, organization of a waste-free environment, and climate restoration. These ambitious goals will improve life for all of us if we can achieve at least some of them by 2030.
The documentary features Prince William, Sir David Attenborough and The Earthshot Prize winners. The film highlights the work of 15 award finalists, their innovative solutions to global environmental problems.
Announcing the finalists for The Earthshot Prize, Prince William said: “More than half a century ago, President Kennedy’s Moonshot program united millions of people around the goal of conquering the moon. Inspired by this project, The Earthshot prize aims to rally around our unique ability to innovate, solve problems and repair our planet. I am honored to introduce the 15 innovators, leaders and visionaries who have become the first finalists for The Earthshot Prize. They work with the effort required in this crucial decade of life on Earth. They will inspire us all with their optimism in the human capacity to face the greatest challenges in history.”
Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet features interviews with members of The Earthshot Prize Board, including singer and philanthropist Shakira Mebarak, who talks about her passion for the ocean and the importance of protecting it for future generations, as well as Japanese engineer and former astronaut at aboard the International Space Station, Naoko Yamazaki, who is one of the first to observe the planet’s pollution from space. Through their activities, these caring people draw attention to environmental problems and show how they can be solved.
