Prize-winners of prestigious film festivals will be shown at the OIFF

As part of the traditional non-competitive section “Festival of Festivals”, which includes film hits from international festivals, the eighth Odessa IFF will feature award winners from film screenings in Cannes, Berlin and Venice. The festival will take place from July 14 to 22.

“Fatal Temptation” (dir. Sofia Coppola)

The gated boarding house for girls is securely hidden from the outside world until the day one of the soldiers knocked on the gate to find help here. From that moment on, the mysterious mansion was captured by a fatal temptation. This picture is a remake of the 1972 film with Clint Eastwood. Coppola’s main character was played by Colin Farrell. An equally eminent female ensemble of actresses (Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning).

“At the Limit” (dir. Fatih Akin)

A drama about Katya, a woman who lost the most important thing after an explosion – her son and husband. After a period of grief and search for justice, Kati decides to take revenge.

The film brought Diane Kruger the Best Actress Award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

“Body and Soul” (dir. Ildiko Enyedi)

An unusual love story set against the backdrop of the everyday world. About the facets of sleep and awakening, mind and matter. The authors of the project warn: “Animals were harmed during the filming of the film. But this has nothing to do with the filming process itself.”

“Trace of the Beast” (dir. Agnieszka Holland)

An elderly woman lives alone far from the villages. She knows everything about the wild nature and forests around her home. And when mysterious murders begin to occur in the area, she is sure that she knows who or what is killing people. But no one believes the elderly woman, not even the police.

At the 67th Berlin Film Festival, the film was awarded the Alfred Buer Award (Silver Bear).

“Honorary Citizen” (dir. Gaston Duprat, Mariano Kon)

The Nobel Prize winner in literature, who has lived in Europe for a long time, accepts invitations from residents of his hometown in Argentina. They decided to award him the title of “Outstanding Citizen.” At home, the writer feels that he has an equal number of similar and opposite traits with his fellow countrymen.

“Glory” (dir. Kristina Grozeva, Peter Vulchanov)

Worker Tsanko Petrov, while making his rounds at the railway station, finds money and hands it over to the police station. The Ministry of Transport rewards Tzanko with a new wristwatch, which breaks almost immediately. Meanwhile, the old personalized watch “Slava”, given to Tsanko by his father, is lost. The hero’s attempts to regain his family heirloom turn into a story of struggle for his own dignity.

The film received a Special Mention at the Locarno Film Festival in 2016 and numerous awards at international film festivals, including Istanbul, Sofia, Minsk, Vilnius.

“The Handless Girl” (dir. Sebastien Lodenbach)

When times get tough, a father sells his daughter to the devil. She will run away, but will be left without arms. She will have to leave her own family. And on this path she will meet the Goddess of Water, a fragile gardener, and also a real prince with his own castle.

Grand Prix at the Tokyo Anime Film Festival and a special mention at the Annecy Animation International Film Festival (2016).

“Arrhythmia” (dir. Boris Khlebnikov)

Oleg is a young talented paramedic. His wife Katya works in an emergency hospital. He loves Oleg, but he cares more about the patients than about her. She tells him that she wants water. At the same time, the hero is having problems at work – the new manager wants everyone to adhere to the rules, and Oleg saves the lives of the sick, he has no time for protocols. Oleg and Katya must find the strength that will keep them together.

Two awards at the XXVIII Open Russian Festival “Kinotavr” – for the best film and male performer.
