Insurance company GoCompare has identified the most popular film locations in the world. The rating was compiled based on information from the IMDB database about the filming locations of famous films.
According to these data, it turned out that the most cinematic place in the world is Central Park in New York. 231 films were filmed here, including such popular films as Men in Black, The Devil’s Advocate and John Wick.
Second place in the ranking is occupied by the iconic Los Angeles beach Venice Beach, where scenes from the films “American Pie” and “Million Dollar Baby” were filmed.
Rounding out the top three was a block in the west of Lower Manhattan in New York, Greenwich Village.
The authors of the rating also compared the UK and the US in terms of the popularity of local locations for filming films and TV shows. It turned out that more than 139 thousand films and television projects were shot in the USA, while in the UK – only 25.7 thousand films and TV shows.
