If the laptop has been in the sea, bathed or taken a shower, it is unlikely that anything will help it. However, if a little water gets on the keyboard, then follow this step-by-step instruction. And remember: you need to act quickly.
Disconnect the charging cable from the mains and all other wires connected to the laptop.
Turn the laptop upside down so that the water flows out. Simultaneously hold down the power button until the device’s screen turns off completely.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer: flash drives, memory cards, USB modem and battery.
Dry the laptop thoroughly without turning it back over. Pay special attention to the keyboard, ports and cooling holes.
If not just water, but tea, coffee or wine got into the device, then disassemble and clean it from the inside with paper towels or cotton swabs moistened with a small amount of alcohol. If you do not know how or do not want to lose the warranty – contact the service center.
Dry your laptop. Lay a fan on the floor, cover it with a cardboard or plastic box, and make large holes in its top and side walls. Cover the box with a towel and place the laptop on it with the keyboard facing down. Turn on the fan for two days to completely dry the device. But don’t leave it unattended for a long time.
After 48 hours, check the operation of the device and back up important data to other media.
Now hope for the best, but do not relax. Damage may not appear immediately, but after a few days or weeks. It all depends on your luck and the amount of spilled liquid.
