Since 1961, the International Bank Note Society (IBNS) has been selecting the best banknote of the year every year since 1961. The jury focuses on three main criteria: artistry, print quality and anti-counterfeiting features.
My friends live in more than a hundred countries, closely monitoring the latest in banknotes around the world. Every year, about two hundred banknotes are included in the long list of the award. Of these, several dozen nominees are first eliminated, and only then the jury determines one winner.
At the end of 2020, the Ukrainian 200 hryvnia with an updated design may become the best banknote of the year. It was this banknote that was among the 24 nominees for this prestigious award.
