- The clip should not pull the tie down. When you have tied your tie, pull it up a little.
- Then, at a level between 3 and 4 buttons, horizontally set the clip itself.
- The clip should not peek out from under the buttoned jacket.
- The length of the clip should be 1/2 to 3/4 of the width of the tie. For narrow ties, the optimal clip length is 45 mm, for classic ties – 50 mm, and for wide ties – 55-65 mm.
- The tie clip is never worn with a vest, because the latter performs a similar function.
It is advisable to choose a clip along with a tie, focusing on a combination of shades and styles. - The color of the metal of the clip should be combined with other accessories: cufflinks, watches, bracelets or rings.
- It is better not to wear a clip that contains nickel, but opt for one that is made of medical grade surgical steel.
