For ten years he honed his skills in short film. Subsequently, he released two stunning films in a row: “Pi” and “Requiem for a Dream.” The Wrestler and Black Swan cemented Aronofsky’s reputation as the “King of Sorrows,” while The Fountain and Noah showed the director’s passion for epic scale.

Aronofsky explores the individual and masterfully uses expressive close-ups and detailed shots. By taking portraits, the director thus invites the viewer to plunge into the inner world of the character, feel the complex range of emotions and at the same time convey his worldview.

Aronofsky also uses extreme close-ups and details, fixing the viewer’s attention on the eyes, hands, elements of clothing or the interior.
