The Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival<\/a> is moving online! This year,\u00a0not only Kyiv residents, but the whole Ukraine will have a chance to watch festival films, participate in\u00a0human rights discussions and masterclasses by famous filmmakers. The 17th Docudays UA will be held\u00a0online between 24 April and 3 May.<\/p>\n

We want to support our audience, so all festival screenings and online broadcasts will be free of charge.<\/p>\n

Thus, during the quarantine, we\u00a0offer you to have a new, absolutely untrivial experience of attending the International Human Rights\u00a0Documentary Film Festival online. Let\u2019s stay home to watch and discuss documentary films together.<\/p>\n

Of course, no kind of virtual\u00a0event can replace a physical one. And we really understand the filmmakers\u2019 feelings about the fact that their\u00a0films are not shown on cinema screens. We are extremely grateful for all the directors\u2019 and partners\u2019 favorable\u00a0attitude to this idea in this troubled time. This festival is our act of solidarity with the global cultural\u00a0community and a way to support our audience during the crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

The festival will have three main components:<\/p>\n

\u0406. public online broadcasts on the docudays.ua website of human rights discussions in the RIGHTS NOW!\u00a0programme, DOCU\/CLASS lectures, and conversations about life and cinema with the directors of\u00a0festival films and with film critics;<\/p>\n

\u0406\u0406. the virtual DOCU\/SPACE cinema, where you will be able to watch over 50 festival films from the\u00a0competition and non-competition programmes, most of which will be available between 24 April and\u00a010 May;<\/p>\n

\u0406\u0406\u0406. exclusive online events for the owners of DOCU\/PRO industry accreditations, including the Ukrainian\u00a0Doc Preview, a presentation of relevant contemporary documentaries at the stage of production to film\u00a0industry professionals, implemented in partnership with the Ukrainian Institute; as well as Meet\u00a0Professionals, a cycle of online meetings with international documentary experts.<\/p>\n

In addition, the viewers will be able to register for remote conversations with the \u201cbooks\u201d from the\u00a0Living Library. And teenagers from across Ukraine will be offered a chance to participate in the Online\u00a0Documentary Studio, where under the mentorship of documentary filmmakers, they will create their\u00a0own documentaries about life under quarantine in the DOCU\/CAMP.<\/p>\n

The online festival will keep all the competition programmes: DOCU\/WORLD, DOCU\/UKRAINE and\u00a0DOCU\/SHORT. Traditionally, each programme will be evaluated by a separate jury that will include\u00a0international and Ukrainian experts, documentary filmmakers, human rights advocates. One of the ten\u00a0nominated films will receive the RIGHTS NOW! award, given to a creative documentary film which\u00a0explores the contemporary world and makes a significant contribution to the discussion around human\u00a0dignity, freedom and equality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
