Over the years of independence, 20 officials became Prime Ministers of Ukraine, including those who held this position as acting. On average, the term of each Prime Minister in office lasted about 610 days.
The chair of the Prime Minister was repeatedly held by Yulia Tymoshenko, Mykola Azarov and Viktor Yanukovych. Three of the country’s five presidents, before leading the country, headed the government.
The current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has headed the government for the longest time. At the same time, it was during his tenure that the most dramatic chapters in the country’s recent history fell, among other things: the coronavirus pandemic and a full-scale invasion.
