Close-ups of Darren Aronofsky collected in one video

Video blogger Jacob T. Swinney edited a video that combined the most impressive close-ups from Darren Aronofsky’s films.

The selection in less than three minutes shows footage from the films “Pi”, “Riquiem for a Dream”, “The Fountain”, “The Wrestler”, “Black Swan”, “Noah”. These extreme close-ups are not only beautiful, but often violent.

Among all the directors of modern Hollywood, Darren Aronofsky occupies a special place. For ten years he honed his skills in short film. Subsequently, he released two stunning films in a row: “Pi” and “Requiem for a Dream.” The Wrestler and Black Swan cemented Aronofsky’s reputation as the “King of Sorrows,” while The Fountain and Noah showed the director’s passion for epic scale.

Aronofsky explores the individual and masterfully uses expressive close-ups and detailed shots. By taking portraits, the director thus invites the viewer to plunge into the inner world of the character, feel the complex range of emotions and at the same time convey his worldview.

Aronofsky also uses extreme close-ups and details, fixing the viewer’s attention on the eyes, hands, elements of clothing or the interior. Behind the familiar details, the director sees a certain metaphysics.
