Popular video blogger Jacob T. Swinney juxtaposed horse racing scenes from William Wyler’s classic Ben Hur (1959) and George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999).
When comparing these scenes frame-by-frame, it turns out that many close-ups, long shots and panoramic shots, as well as the course of the chase itself, were copied in the 1999 film.
“Is this blatant copying from Lucas justified, and does it actually improve his film?” – asks the author of the video.
