Riley Reid, born Ashley Mathews, was born on July 9, 1991, in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. She has Dominican, Puerto Rican, and Irish heritage. From a young age, she was attractive, talented, and intelligent. After high school, she enrolled at Florida International University, majoring in psychology with the intention of becoming a teacher. She also worked at a Journey shoe store.

In 2010, at the age of 19, Riley Reid began her career in the adult film industry, initially using the stage name Paige Riley.
