The documentary film “Crimea, as it was” tells about the events that unfolded on the peninsula in the spring of 2014. As a result of a fake referendum, Russia then occupied Crimea.
The film shows exclusive documentary footage and also tells the stories of sailors and military personnel who remained faithful to their oath to Ukraine until the very end. Continuing to carry out their military duties on land, sea and in the air, direct participants talk about the occupation of Ukrainian Crimea. They are all trying to answer the question of why our country did not fight for this peninsula. The characters in the film also think about the future of the peninsula.
“I want as many people as possible to know about what happened in Crimea in the spring of 2014,” said the film’s director.
The film was shot as part of the largest documentary film project since Ukraine’s independence, “Babylon’13”. The film was recognized as the best documentary film at the Dreams City Film Festival in Rivne.
