A popular video blogger Candice Drouet has created a video, compiling scenes from Xavier Dolan’s feature films, in which the director references classical films.
A bar scene from Tom at the Farm (2013), for instance, is a nod to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (1980). Ruffled clothes flying in the air in Laurence Anyways (2012) is an homage to Zabriskie Point (1970) by Michelangelo Antonioni. The three main characters of Heartbeats (2010) resemble the protagonists of Jules and Jim (1970) by François Truffaut. And a skate ride in Mommy (2014) is a clear reference to Paranoid Park (2007) by Gus Van Sant.
Earlier Candice Drouet posted a video, compiling scenes from classical films, referenced by Wes Anderson, Abbas Kiarostami, David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino in their own works.
